The Classroom as Petrie Dish
Back to school doesn’t have to mean back to the doctor.

It almost sounds like an evil experiment: take 20 to 30 children, lock them up together in a poorly ventalated room for about six hours a day and see what kinds of viruses and sickness they pass between themselves and their families. But there is no mad scientist and it’s not an experiment... it’s just another school day in another school year.

Parents throughout the nation are beginning to learn that in addition to stocking up on pencils, pens and new school clothes, that now is the time to stock up on preventative vitamins and supplements as well. They are learning that taking a proactive stance can not only help prevent their child from becoming ill, but can prevent the spread of illness within the family as well.

Wholesome nutrition is, of course, the first line of defense. Instead of sending your child to school with a sack lunch of processed and chemically alterted food (or worse: letting them buy their lunch), think first about natural and organic selections. Parent’s feel lucky if their child even eats lunch in the first place, so if you’ve gotten that far, make sure the meal really counts for something.
